International Women's Day 2018

On Thursday 8 March join 3CR in celebrating International Women’s Day 2018. Tune in from midnight Wednesday until midnight Thursday 8 March to hear 24 hours of women and gender diverse voices, talkback, music, current affairs, union news, community languages and much more. Check out the exciting content we have planned for you here. This year we mark Invasion Day with 6 hours of special programming from 10 am – 4 pm on Friday 26th January.

We'll start the day will Elders Stories from our local community and some of our favourite Blak anthems.

Then at 11am, cross live to the Invasion Day rally that begins on the steps of Victorian Parliament. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the first Day of Mourning protest called by William Cooper.

1990s - celebrate history week with 3CR

Have you got a copy of the station's stunning anniversary book: 'Radical Radio: Celebrating 40 Years of 3CR'? Celebrate history week by buying a piece of your own history. Or snap one up for a friend or family member for Christmas, and ask your local library to get a copy! For $49.50 you can purchase the book online, or at the station during business hours. 

Lost in Science

Pit your scientific knowledge against the giant brains of the Lost in Science team at our annual TRIVIA NIGHT, and help keep our show on the air. Monday 14 August at the Birmingham Hotel corner Smith and Johnston streets, Fitzroy, doors open at 6.30pm for pub meals and chatting before a 7.30pm start. Tickets are $15 for 3CR subscribers, $20 for future subscribers and can be purchased online. Come along and join a team, or bring your own of 4–8 people to share the fabulous prizes! Part of National Science Week.

It's not too late to donate to the 3CR 'Radio for Change' Radiothon. Make your payment before Friday 30 June and get your tax deductible receipt ready for tax time. Monday Greek presenter Vasilis Papaioannu (pictured with Station Manager Rachel Kirby) brought in over $5,000 worth of donations from his community this week. 'It's hard, but it's always such a pleasure to raise money to support the good work of 3CR', says Vasilis, known around the station as Bill the Greek. Aziza Hussein - Nile Show

This week we launch Radio for Change Radiothon 2017! At 6.30pm Aziza Hussein (pictured) takes to the airwaves with  this year's first Radiothon program - Nile Show. The corporate media is in crisis. We've always known that corporate media owners prioritise profit over the service of independent journalism, and that this has dire consequences for democracy and social justice. 3CR was formed 41 years ago to counter capitalist media, and we are delivering radio for the people, by the people. In 2017 3CR is Radio for Change. Radio for Change aims to capture the global mood of resistance, and during our annual Radiothon fundraiser we ask all our supporters to donate so that we can stay radical and independent. Out of the Blue 2017 Fundraiser

Love a bit of healthy competition? Enjoy catching up with friends? Want to meet the Out of the Blue team? Or just want the glory of being the Out of the Blue trivia champions for the year? Come along to Highlander Bar on Wednesday 10 May for Out of the Blue's 3rd Annual Fundraising Trivia Night. You've listened to us on Sunday mornings, now come along and meet the team in person, have a drink or two, and test your knowledge. Get a team together and show off your trivia skills, with all funds raised supporting our Radiothon efforts for 2017. Trivia starts at 6:30pm sharp, so make sure you get there early to take advantage of Highlander's delicious menu and to get a prime table position.
