How can we better practice solidarity with each other as fellow disabled people of different backgrounds and abilities, locally and across borders, at a time in humankind’s existence where mass-disabling violence is increasing? YOU are invited to the 2024 Beyond the Bars CD launch on Thursday 21 November 6.30-8.30pm at the Djerring Centre next to Collingwood Town Hall. Join MC Shiralee Hood for an evening of talks and music including a panel discussion with some of our deadly broadcasters and music with Bart Willoughby. Free CDs, snacks and drinks provided. All welcome - see you there. 

Who doesn’t love a rummage through some books and CDs on a Saturday morning? Come join us at the 3CR garage sale - Saturday 16 November, 9am-2pm in the 3CR carpark at the rear of 21 Smith Street, Fitzroy. There’ll be CDs, records, cassettes, books, household goods, 3CR merchandise and much more! Curated by the weekly show The Sporting Record and all proceeds go directly to the station. This event is part of the Garage Sale Trail.

Are you part of a community organisation dedicated to connecting and engaging your community? 3CR is a great place to voice your culture and connect with community in your language. Programming at the station provides a platform to share your organisation's activities as well as music and stories by and for your community. We provide training and technical support for members to develop skills and gain experience in broadcasting and media communication. The Accent of Women Outreach project will deliver a dynamic radio training course for up to seven women from culturally diverse, new and emerging communities. The training will take place on Saturday mornings starting 31 August through to 16 November. Each participant will receive a $600 honorarium at the end of the training course. Participants are required to meet all of the course requirements and have attended at least 75% of the training sessions to be eligible to receive the honorarium.

Beyond the Bars is Australia’s only live prison radio series giving voice to First Nations inmates in Victorian jails. Across nearly 20 hours of broadcasting, we get to hear directly from those incarcerated about the issues that are important to them, along with their shout outs to family and friends.
