I’m Michaela and one todays program we’ll be getting an update on the proposed nuclear waste dump in south Australia as the campaign continues to heat up with legal action by the Barngala traditional owner group putting on hold a community ballot that was set to start on Monday.

First up I spoke with Friends of the Earth's ACE Nuclear-free Collective coordinator AC Hunter, who has just returned from campaign visits to South Austrlaia and WesternAustralia the two current nuclear hotspots.

To send a letter to Minister Matt Canavan and Shadow Minister Kim Carr calling for an end to the SA dump plans, and for the government to initiate a comprehensive, independent inquiry to address all options for the responsible long-term management of Australia's nuclear waste go to www.for.org.au/waste.

If you would like to contribute to the WA courtcase from Traditional Owners protecting Yeelirrie from uranium mining go to: chuffed.org/project/yeelirrie-court-case.

With the heatwaves raising temperatures across Europe we’ll be hearing about the most recent wave of nuclear power plant shutdowns due to the extreme weather, the likes of which we will see occur more frequently with escalating human induced climate change.  Thanks to City Limits Kevin Healy and Meg Kimber for this interview with Australian Conservation Foundation's Nuclear-free Campaigner Dave Sweeney.
