Championed by music connoisseur Stuart Coupe, Dr. Gonzo understands why Stuart is a fan of Melbourne band Ten Gallon Head. After hearing their second album, Love Is Late to the Party, he wholeheartedly agrees with Stuart’s enthusiasm. Released on both vinyl and digital formats, this album follows the band’s self-titled debut from 2015.
The band describes their unique sound as "country-psychedelic-pop-M.O.R.-rock 'n' roll," capturing a mood range that swings from creeping dread to sly humor, with a few stops in between. Broadly speaking, Love Is Late to the Party highlights their pop sensibilities, offering an array of catchy hooks, driving grooves, and lush melodies. Dr. Gonzo also detects the influence of rockabilly and power pop, reminiscent of early Flamin' Groovies and John Dowler’s various bands, which adds a compelling edge to the album’s sound.
