The Double Agents were a bluesy garage rock band that ignited audiences across Melbourne's pub rock scene from 2000 to 2008. Founded by Dave Butterworth and Myles Gallagher, the band completed several blazing European tours and released albums on legendary labels such as Beast, Infidelity, and Spooky.
Throughout their career, they supported numerous incredible bands, including The Dirtbombs, Dead Moon, Detroit Cobras, White Stripes, Celibate Rifles, Kim Salmon & Spencer P. Jones.
In 2008, the band amicably disbanded when Dave Butterworth decided to hang up his guitar to focus on spending quality time with his family.
Sadly djjuring the COVID-19 lockdowns, Butterworth lost his voice, and a medical check revealed he had throat cancer.
This diagnosis served as a wake-up call, prompting him to complete unfinished projects. In 2023, the band reformed playing live, released a compilation album, "Best Bits… So Far," and recorded another album, "New Motion." Dave Butterworth introduces the latter on this edition of "And This One’s Introduced By…" with your host, Dr. Gonzo.
