6-6.30pm Indigenous Rights Radio: Transitions Minerals
Recent years have seen a troubling escalation in threats against Indigenous Peoples. Beyond the relentless encroachment of real estate, oil, tourism, and monoculture companies on our ancestral territories, we are now facing a significant increase in assaults from mining corporations eager to exploit our lands for lithium, copper, cobalt, and other critical transition minerals. These minerals are deemed essential for the global shift toward renewable energy, yet their extraction comes at a severe cost to our communities and ecosystems.
